Babeş-Bolyai University offers a Romanian language preparatory year for the candidates who are not familiar with the Romanian language and opt to follow a study program (Bachelor or Master level) which is available only in Romanian language.
The Romanian language preparatory year follow the structure of the academic year (October-June). It is an intensive course, comprising 25 hours of course/week, two semesters.
In order to apply for the Romanian language preparatory year, the candidates must choose the Bachelor/Master/PhD program they would like to study after the preparatory year.
Citizens of an EU, EEA country and the Swiss Confederation need to request and to obtain the recognition of their previous studies obtained abroad before they register for admission for the Romanian Preparatory Year. The recognition document will be issued by the Romanian Ministry of Education and it will contain the level, main field of studies and/or specialization compared to the Romanian education system.

Applications for the recognition of studies can be submitted:
- by email to the email address anna.fejer@ubbcluj.ro if the documents are issued in Romanian, English, French, Spanish or Italian language. Please send all documents scanned in one single pdf file.
- by post to the address of Babeş-Bolyai University, Centre for International Cooperation (68 Avram Iancu Street, 400083 Cluj-Napoca, Romania) if the documents are issued in other languages than the ones mentioned above, where certified translations are needed in original
Grades recognition
For registering for the Romanian Language Preparatory Year it is not requested to obtain the conversion of the grades, but please note that after completing the Romanian Preparatory yearfor the admission to Bachelor or Master Degree you will need to obtain the conversion of the grades, results of final exam and/or any other grade requested (according the selection criteria for the chosen program) and follow the updated admission procedure.

After receiving/requesting the recognition of previous studies, the candidates will submit their application file following the instructions of the Faculty of Letters: https://lett.ubbcluj.ro/an-pregatitor-2/
Important! All the documents (certified translations and simple copies) submitted for recognition of studies will remain at the archive of the Ministry of Education.
For admission at the university, candidates will prepare a new set of documents, according to the admission procedure.
