Welcome to Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai! In this section, you should be able to find all the information to guide you through the application process and ensure a smooth ride for you! In order to apply for an Erasmus+ mobility at UBB, you need to send us the application form below dully filled in, a valid ID copy and the learning agreement signed by yourself and your home coordinator. The structure of the academic year includes the information about the exact mobility period.
Students coming from partner countries (KA107 or KA171) need to consult the guide below as well as all the information sent by email and make sure they are aware of all the regulations of the programme, as well as the regulations at UBB.
THE EUROPEAN CREDIT TRANSFER SYSTEM
The ECTS – European Credit Transfer System – was developed by the European Commission in order to provide common procedures to guarantee academic recognition of studies abroad. It provides a way of measuring and comparing learning achievements and transferring them from one institution to another.
The ECTS system is based on the principle of mutual trust and confidence between the participating higher education institutions. The agreement between the home and host institutions establishing the programme of study to be taken (Learning Agreement), the use of credit units to indicate the student’s workload (ECTS credits) and the use of a Transcript of Records, which shows the student’s learning achievements in a way which is communally understood and easily transferable from one institution to another, are set out to reinforce the mutual trust and confidence.
In ECTS, 60 credits represent one year of study (in terms of workload); normally, 30 credits are given for 6 months (a semester) and 20 credits for a 3-month term (a trimester). ECTS credits are also allocated to practical placements and to thesis preparation when these activities are part of the regular programme of study at both the home and the host institutions.
ECTS credits are allocated to courses and are awarded to students who successfully complete those courses by passing the examinations or other assessments. Examination and assessment results are usually expressed in grades.
STUDY ASSESSEMENT at UBB
The curriculum for each course of study specifies the type of assessment the student will have to comply with in order to pass that particular course and obtain the number of credits allocated to the subject.
The assessment can be done either by means of an examination or other types of assessment procedures (colloquia, mid-term examinations, project papers, etc.), some of which may be graded “passed” or “failed”.
During an academic year, for each subject of study you may take the examination twice.
Failure to pass a subject that was included in your learning agreement means that you have to reregister for that subject and pay a fee according to the number of credits allocated to that course. That is why you have to ensure that you fully understand what is expected of you. There are precise requirements for each subject, and a breach of these rules may lead to penalties.

UBB STUDENT RESIDENCES
Located all throughout the city, our Campuses offer a range of excellent University accommodation options. Accommodation plays an important part in student life and living in university accommodation adds a unique element to your student experience. Our welcoming, safe residences are well maintained and provide access to great facilities, helping you to settle into university life. The campus is open all-year round and offers a variety of rooms, ranging from 5 person shared facilities, 3 person rooms and double accommodation in small apartments with kitchen and bathroom. The price range suit all budgets. You may read all the rules and regulations in your contract and annexes to the contract, that you will have to sign upon arrival. We have dedicated places for foreign citizens in several dorms, that can change every academic year. You can check some pictures here.
A1 Dormitory – Hașdeu Campus
Most Erasmus+ students are accommodated in “Iulia Haşdeu” Student Campus. The Dorm A1 (~50 EUR/month) has double occupancy rooms with the following facilities: bathroom; furniture; free Internet access. There is a kitchen on each floor open between 7.00 and 23.00 each day.
14 and 17 Dormitory – Hașdeu Campus
Due to the great number of students that apply and the limited places allotted, other dormitories are also taken into consideration, such as Dormitory 17 or 14 ( ~ 40 EUR/month, double occupancy, bathroom and kitchen on each floor, free internet access).
Economica Campus
Particularly Erasmus+ students who come to study at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and at the Faculty of Political, Communication and Administrative Sciences will be placed in the two dormitories of Campus Economica (~50 EUR/month). There are three people in a room, and: bathroom; furniture; free Internet access.

Students are informed by email regarding the faculty they will be enrolled in as well as the link to the faculty website with academic curricula. The curricula below centralizes the available information. Please note faculty websites are updated constantly with courses for the next academic year.
